1. Do you offer engine removal/reinstallation (R&R) at your facility if I fly my airplane to you?
-Our busy schedule does not allow us to offer engine R&R anymore, but we do work with a local shop that handles R&R for us! We pick the engine up and drop it back off there following the overhaul free of charge!
2. What is your lead time on major overhauls?
-While it will vary some depending on our current work load and the turn times of our outside vendors, our average turn time on major overhauls is 14-16 weeks. We begin the overhaul process as soon as we receive the engine.
3. Do you offer "quick-turn" overhauls? How long do those take?
-We do offer quick-turn overhauls on certain engine models, for a small upcharge! This generally is only available for non-counterweighted 4-cylinder Lycoming engines, but we are working on expanding to add more available models to our quick-turn capability list. Our quick-turn overhauls take 6 weeks or less. Contact us today for more details!
4. Do you offer overhaul/exchanges for my engine so that I can skip the 14-16 week down time?
-We do offer overhaul/exchange engines for customers who cannot afford a lengthy downtime, such as flight schools. The models we currently have available for exchange are:
O-320-D2J
O-360-A4M
IO-550-N
5. What should be removed from my engine prior to bringing it to your shop for overhaul?
-We kindly request that the exhaust system, baffles (except inter-cylinder baffles), prop governor, prop, vacuum pump, alternator and associated mounting brackets, all engine monitoring probes/transducers, and the priming system be removed from the engine.
6. I am located near your shop, can I drive my engine to you in the back of a pickup truck?
-Absolutely! We have an overhead hoist in our shop and can remove your engine right out of the back of your truck while you wait! We'd be happy to give you a tour of the shop while you're here!
